What is an EGR

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. The purpose of it is to regulate the flow of exhaust gases further minimising the amount of Nitrogen Oxide the car produces. The EGR operates by reabsorbing some of the exhaust gas into the engine cylinders. This is done at the same time that oxygen intake is decreased by the intake valve; thus reducing Nitrogen Oxide.

Why Would You Need it Deleted?

The EGR will naturally have a lot of soot deposits in it as it constantly deals with burnt exhaust gases. As the soot deposits build up, it can have repercussions on your vehicle. There will be a loss of power, slower acceleration and throttle response.

When the exhaust gas recirculation valve gets blocked, it can affect your vehicle. The engine may overheat as the valve is blocked and the engine will need to work harder to make up for that. If not sorted soon, the blocked EGR valve can affect the performance of the car and potentially damage the engine.

When a blockage in the DPF occurs, your vehicles will notify you with an orange light shaped like the DPF on your dashboard. When this light displays, we advise that you seek assistance from a vehicle technician as soon as you can.

What Are The Benefits?

Having your exhaust gas recirculation valve removed will offer your car plenty of benefits. You’ll notice an increase in performance along with better miles per gallon and lower engine temperatures.

Improves Performance

If you’re looking for an increase in your car’s performance, then an EGR delete may be for you. Once the exhaust gas recirculation valve has been removed, the car’s engine will be opened up to perform efficiently. As the valve will have been removed, there won’t be a buildup of soot. Therefore, the engine can breathe properly and offer you a smoother driving experience.

Lower Engine Temperature

If the regeneration process is unable to take place in the filter, then it will result in the soot and particulate matter building up and causing a blockage. Due to this the performance of the vehicle will be affected and have a further impact on the fuel economy. The car will need to work harder to be able to perform normally.

Fuel Consumption

With the removal of the EGR valve, the engine won’t have to work as hard to fight through the soot, and carbon deposit buildups. As a result of this, there will be significantly less fuel used; allowing you to save money and improve your miles per gallon. This being because the engine will run more smoothly, improving its performance.
